Player Development Pathway

Missouri Rush and all of it's affiliates, are all part of a development program designed to allow players a pathway throughout their youth soccer career. From introduction of the sport to their last youth game, Rush players will be able to achieve success at the highest level their ability and desire allows.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY (4-8 yrs old)

At the earliest of ages (between 4 and 8 years old), players start to learn to love the game of soccer. Each player develops at his or her own pace. Allowing the players at this age the environment to gain confidence while having fun is what our Youth Development Academy is designed for. Pracaticing one to two nights a week and competiting in local league games, players (and parents) start to get a feel for the Rush culture. At this level it is NOT about wins and losses. More importantly, it is about proper skill and habit formation.

REC+ PROGRAM (8-14 yrs old)

The next level in the Rush Player Development Pathway is our REC+ program. This is more of a recreational level program that works to help players develop their skills who have not yet reached a competitive club level. Whether a player is new to soccer at these ages or coming form another rec program, all players will receive staff training with a low trainer to player ratio. This again is an environment where players can work on their skill and habit formation while working on their confidence with the ball at their feet. At this level it is NOT about wins and losses.

COMPETITIVE (9-19 yrs old)

The competitive side of Rush is is designed for players that are ready for club soccer based on their skill level and desire. These players have a desire to compete and learn at a higher level. Competitive players compete in different playing formats based on their birth years. At 7v7 (9U/10U) and 9v9 (11U/12U), teams are still are playing locally with limited travel. At these stages, it is still NOT about wins and losses. 11v11 (13U and older) teams start to travel more frequently and still play in local leagues. As these teams get older, wins and losses become more important but are still not used as the main measuring tool for success.

RUSH SELECT (12-18 yrs old)

The Rush Select teams are formed by scouting top Rush players. The program forms ‘all star’ teams that participate in various domestic and international events each year. The Rush Select program is like a national team program only better. Players and coaches from Rush clubs around the country hardly know each other’s names at the beginning of each event but by the time everyone departs, life-long bonds will have been forged and a new level of play will have been discovered. Players return to their home Rush clubs with a new understanding of the Rush Way, the Rush Core Values, and an understanding of exactly what it means to be a part of the largest youth soccer organization in the world.
